The award has a total value of US$300,000, with each of the three winners receiving US$100,000, in addition to an award trophy.
The International University of Guinea was recognized for its efforts to develop higher education, expand access to learning opportunities, and build an educational environment that responds to the needs of Guinean society and the demands of the labor market.
An International Achievement for a Guinean University
This distinction marks a historic milestone in the development of the International University of Guinea, which was established in 2019 with a vision of contributing to the advancement of higher education in Guinea and providing university education that combines quality, flexibility, and responsiveness to the changing needs of society and the labor market.
Since its establishment, the university has worked to develop an educational model that combines face-to-face and online learning. This approach enables students to benefit from different learning modalities while allowing the institution to extend educational opportunities to a broader range of learners.
The university also places strong emphasis on aligning its academic programs with the practical needs of society and the labor market. This approach reflects its conviction that higher education goes beyond the acquisition of academic knowledge and serves as a fundamental driver of economic and social development, as well as human capital development.
Recognition of the University's Commitment to Educational Development
Winning the Hamdan–ICESCO Award represents recognition of the university's vision and its sustained efforts to strengthen its institutional capacity and improve its ability to serve students and the wider community.
The award is particularly significant because it recognizes initiatives, individuals, and institutions that contribute to the development of educational facilities across the Islamic world and improve learning conditions, especially in communities where additional support is needed to strengthen educational institutions and infrastructure.
The selection of the International University of Guinea from among 16 applications submitted by 11 countries highlights the international significance of its experience and the growing recognition of educational initiatives originating in Guinea. It also demonstrates the potential of Guinean educational institutions to develop practical solutions to the challenges facing higher education.
A New Opportunity to Accelerate the University's Development
Each winning project receives US$100,000 to support the development of the awarded project or the implementation of new educational initiatives that strengthen educational institutions.
For the International University of Guinea, this financial support represents an important opportunity to advance its infrastructure development plans, improve the academic environment, and enhance its capacity to meet the needs of students and faculty members.
The award can also support initiatives involving educational technology and online learning, alongside improvements to academic, administrative, and educational facilities. These priorities align with the university's broader mission of providing modern higher education that is accessible and responsive to Guinea's needs.
A Historic Milestone in the University's Journey
The International University of Guinea considers this achievement a collective success shared by the entire university community, including its students, faculty members, administrative staff, and leadership.
Beyond the international recognition, the award represents a renewed responsibility to continue improving higher education, investing in human capital, strengthening the learning environment, and promoting innovation and the use of technology in academic activities.
Through this distinction, the International University of Guinea joins a select group of educational institutions and initiatives recognized by the Hamdan–ICESCO Award. Its success demonstrates that Guinean educational institutions can develop impactful initiatives and gain recognition on the international stage.
The university looks forward to making this achievement the beginning of a new phase of growth and development. It aims to translate this recognition and the accompanying financial support into sustainable educational projects that strengthen its institutional mission, better serve students and the community, and contribute to the future of higher education in Guinea.
